about
Cannon is back with a new album, Comet’s Coming; a thought-provoking slab of alternative rock set to drop June 14 via Cheersquad Records and Tapes.
After a hiatus following their debut release in 2021, Melbourne / Naarm’s much loved three-piece make a triumphant return with sophisticated themes of mortality, escapism, and excess.
The first taste of the new album, which was recorded by Fabian Hunter (Jade Imagine, Baby Blue), is the punchy single, ‘Lithium Springs’.
Lithium Springs is a play on America’s Lithia Springs, and seemingly Cannon’s holiday destination of choice. Singer, Mitchy McIvor, reckons “it’s as close to a summer beach song as we’ll get, and we still end up in a spring laced with natural lithium – that’s about right for us.”
The band are excited to be releasing new music again and see this new offering as an exciting step forward. McIvor explains, “with this record we made a conscious effort to apply a stripped back approach to production and combine our usual abrasive tension with more complex layers.”
Comet’s Coming will land like a cosmic blast and is sure to be one of 2024’s finest releases.
lyrics
Won’t you follow me
Fly out to the sea
Sky is blue not you
Hummingbirds humming too
We’re heading to Lithium Springs
Imagine all your beautiful things
Sit back in Lithium Springs
Our God is in the wind
It is tried and true
You’re gonna feel brand new
Rising ten foot high
Wise old night owls cry
We’re heading to Lithium Springs
Imagine all your beautiful things
Sit back in Lithium Springs
Our God is in the wind
We’re heading to Lithium Springs
We’re heading to Lithium Springs
We’re heading to Lithium Springs
We’re heading to Lithium Springs

Super American Eagle effortlessly combine a sense of punky psychedelia, 90's alternative/desert rock and grunge into a timeless slab of wasted groove and hypnotic fuzz. Everything about this album is 🔥 🔥 🔥 . The cheesy album cover fits the aesthetically aggravated attitude throughout the 10 debut tracks. Bucky
